Why I switched from Google Chrome

A very elaborate post on why Federico Viticci is moving away from chrome and how Safari stacks in comparison to Chrome on Mac OS and iOS.I share some of the reasons myself for the switch to Firefox. To be true I was a fan of chrome ever since it launched till end of last year when I made the switch from Google Chrome to Firefox and have never gone back to chrome. Personally I feel Chrome has accrued a lot of cruft to the codebase to an extent it feels unbearably bloated on my mediocre yet loyal(nearing 5years ;)) office laptop. That said they have been innovating and been putting the users on the bleeding edge of technology none the less. But it just doesnt cut enough for me these days, there are lot of unwanted features and mostly the compromise of privacy that adds to the distaste. Since windows doesnt have a safari build anymore, I am sticking with the next best open alternative Firefox. The mobile browser had always been safari and will remain safari ever.

If you are looking for motivations to make the switch just watch this video. It just cant get any better.

My new giro theme for chrome.

Being cyclist and extensive chrome user, couple of weeks back I was searching the chrome web store for cycling related themes and apps.I did find an interesting web app, but I was disappointed with the lack of themes related to cycling.
So I decided to take the plunge myself and give creating a theme myself. I learnt about the art of making the themes from the help sections and app building sections and I managed to build this theme. It’s a seasonal theme for the giro de italia that’s currently happening now. You can try the theme from here A screen shot of the theme is below. Feel free to let me know your thoughts and any theme request you have. Will try to incorporate theme in my future themes.

Firefox shifts up to tackle competition

Firefox 5 Supposedly Coming Out On the 21st of June

An aggressive release schedule for the next version of Firefox has been set by Mozilla, indicating that Firefox 5 is to come out on the 21st of June. Firefox 6 could be brought to the public in another 2 months.

Love the idea of the aggressive release schedule to stay in competition with Google chrome.
